The Kidney Disease Treatment & Transplant Program at Rush Children’s Hospital provides evaluation and treatment for pediatric patients with end-stage renal disease and acute renal failure. The patients range in ages from neonatal to young adult.
The unit provides the following:
- Outpatient chronic maintenance of peritoneal and hemodialysis
- Inpatient acute peritoneal dialysis using manual or automated equipment
- Inpatient acute hemodialysis, hemoperfusion and hemofiltration
- Home training for peritoneal dialysis using manual or automated equipment
- Educational support and psychosocial services as provided by the multidisciplinary team
- Assessments of pediatric growth and development
This program features a multidisciplinary staff of medical specialists, surgeons, nurses and other professionals with expertise in caring for children with renal disease and failure. We are deeply committed to a comprehensive post-transplant patient care program.
