Program Description

The medical staff of Rush includes hundreds of primary care doctors located throughout the Chicago area — internists, ob/gyn specialists, family practitioners, pediatricians and geriatricians. To receive a copy of the Primary Care Physician Directory, please call (888) 352-RUSH. Or search online for a physician near you using our online physician referral directory. Services Provided

Family Medicine: Family physicians provide continuing and comprehensive health care for male and female patients of all ages, from newborns to the elderly, for all medical problems. Some family medicine physicians provide maternity care, including labor and delivery.

Internal Medicine: From routine health maintenance and preventive care to diagnosis and nonsurgical treatment of medical problems, internists are experts in the general care of adults.

Obstetrics and Gynecology: Obstetricians and gynecologists care for women before, during and after pregnancy and at menopause. They also provide medical and surgical treatment of the female reproductive and urinary systems. Some ob/gyn physicians act as primary care providers, overseeing the general health care needs of female adults and adolescents.

Pediatrics: Pediatricians provide preventive care and health maintenance to the well child, diagnose and treat the diseases of childhood and monitor the physical and social development of preadolescents and adolescents.

Internal Medicine and Pediatrics: Dually trained and certified in both pediatrics and internal medicine, these physicians have unique expertise in the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of illness in adults and children.

Geriatrics: Geriatricians are internists with additional training in the complex disorders that can occur with aging. They provide both primary and consultative care for older adults. Their expertise is particularly important when managing multiple medications and multiple medical conditions, and they are skilled in comprehensive assessment that can lead to the detection of previously undiagnosed geriatric conditions.
