Clinical Trial Investigator Name
Ece Mutlu

Clinical Trial Title

Viruses as Potential Triggers for Ulcerative Colitis

Clinical Trial Protocol Description

The purpose of this study is to determine if viruses are capable of causing UC or causing a flareup of UC. We know very little about how viruses may or may not play a role in UC. If you agree to participate in this study, you will be asked to donate stool and blood (approximately 2-tablespoon) samples at the initial visit and every three months for one year and at the time of a UC flare. This research may help us find the cause of or triggers for UC, changes in the treatment of UC flareups, changes in how we diagnose UC and improve our understanding of the relationship between intestinal viruses and the immune system.

Clinical Trial Eligibility Criteria

You may be eligible to participate in this study if you:

  • You have documented UC, based on classical history and classical endoscopic findings and histology compatible with UC
  • You are currently living in the same household with one of the UC subjects

This is a partial list of eligibility requirements. To inquire about your eligibility, please call the contact number provided. If you wish to inquire via email, please include the title of the study in your message.
