Home Environment Comparison Study
The purpose of this study is to examine the role of the home environment in children’s healthy eating habits and activity levels. The study focuses on children ages 6-13 who live in low- and lower middle-income households. The study involves completing surveys about your family’s food shopping and cooking habits. Your child’s physical activity level will be measured for seven days using a small electronic device similar to a wristwatch. Researchers will come to your home at a time that is convenient for you – there is no need to travel to Rush. At Rush University Medical Center we expect to recruit approximately 96 households for this study.
You may be eligible to participate in this study if you:
- Care for a child age 6 through 13
- Live in a low-income or lower middle-income household
- Live in the city of Chicago
- Are willing to meet with researchers in your home
You will be excluded from this study if you:
- Live in a high-income household
