Christy Shoenwald has been a recreation technician with the Alzheimer's Family Care Center (AFCC) since 2010. As a recreation technician at the AFCC, Christy develops, organizes and leads therapeutic group activities focused on utilizing clients' strengths as well as enhancing their well-being. Prior to this position, she directed the Assisted Living Memory Support Unit at Norwood Crossing in Chicago and also served as the quality assistant for Presbyterian Homes' "Operation Excellence," a quality improvement culture change initiative. Christy earned a BA in psychology from Marquette University as well as an MA in counseling and art therapy from the Adler School of Professional Psychology. Currently, she serves as a member of the American Art Therapy Association and the Illinois Art Therapy Association.
