Since 1996, our family-oriented practice has been providing compassionate care to newborns and infants, children, adolescents and adults, including the elderly. We believe in making our patients feel comfortable, respected and pleased with their care. Our practice physicians have longstanding relationships with many families and have enjoyed getting to know our patients over the years. MEET OUR STAFF

At Rush University Family Physicians Southwest, we offer a wide range of services to meet your health care needs throughout you and your family's lives. As board-certified family medicine physicians, we believe in treating the whole person by addressing the medical, social and emotional needs of our patients.
Our services include the following:
- Adult annual physical exams and wellness counseling
- Woman's health care including: gynecologic care, breast exams and family planning
- Men's health care
- Well-baby care and immunizations
- Immunizations for children, adolescents and adults
- Pediatric evaluations for acute illnesses and management of chronic problems
- Adolescent medicine and counseling
- Geriatric assessment and care planning
- Urgent/same-day illness including: fever, infections, cold and flu symptoms
- Comprehensive management of chronic conditions such as: asthma/COPD, diabetes, heart disease, heart failure, hypertension (high blood pressure), high cholesterol, allergies and thyroid conditions
- Office procedures including: skin biopsy, mole removal, colposcopy, wound care, joint injections and casting
- Select laboratory procedures performed on-site including blood draws

REFERRALS 
As a part of Rush University Medical Center, we can refer you to our team of leading clinical specialists in Chicago and the surrounding suburbs. Our practice has longstanding relationships with specialists and knows how to efficiently coordinate your care and navigate the health care system.
HOSPITAL CARE 
In the event that you need to be hospitalized, we will refer you to Rush University Medical Center, a nationally recognized institution for innovative, technologically advanced, quality care. A physician from our practice team will be involved in your care to ensure that you understand your diagnosis and treatment and will coordinate your follow-up care.

Niby Mathew, MD, joined Rush University Family Physicians Southwest in July of 2009. As an instructor in the Department of Family Medicine, Mathew's clinical interests include adolescent medicine, obesity, diet and nutrition and women's health. Cynthia Waickus, MD, PhD*, has been practicing family medicine for more than 20 years. In addition to her clinical responsibilities, Waickus devotes a significant portion of her time conducting research as a professor at Rush University. She also serves as the program director and associate chair within the Department of Family Medicine at Rush University Medical Center.
