Program registration, networking and continental breakfast begins at 8:30 a.m. Join us for an informative presentation on how to manage difficult behaviors in individuals on the autism spectrum. Highlights include the opportunity to learn to develop effective treatment plans based on how individuals on the autism spectrum think and process the world around them.

The first day will present some of Michelle Winner's teams' newest work on how to define and differentiate the treatment needs of those with different levels of social functioning. The second day, we will explore more nuanced expectations of emerging into adulthood and strategies to help individuals develop a more mature "Social Thinking" mindset.

Program is designed to assist family members in understanding autism spectrum disorders. The program provides an opportunity for families to ask questions about this developmental disability and to meet other families who are on the same journey. Program topics include Session One: Introduction to ASD; Session Two: Research-Supported Interventions; and Session Three: Available Resources and Parent Tools.

This interactive workshop will assist parents and professionals in identifying daily living and personal care skills that would be beneficial to teach prior to a student transitioning from school to adult services. How to choose and implement evidence-based strategies will be discussed. Lunch is provided.

Cost: $110 (individual rate); $100 (group rate of 4 plus).
Interested families who receive the children's home-based waiver should contact their service facilitator about using funds for unpaid caregiver training to cover the cost of the workshop.

Autism is a complex disorder. Our Web site provides information and resources for families with a child with autism.
