| Mission and Goals
The mission of the Rush University Diabetes Center is to provide the highest quality of comprehensive and coordinated diabetes self-management education. It is our belief that by fostering an increase in knowledge base we will help empower the person with diabetes to manage their diabetes and prevent complications. With better management, the person with diabetes may be able to delay or prevent complications of diabetes.
Goals of the Rush University Diabetes Center include:
- To provide patient's with diabetes, their families and/or support system the educational content necessary to achieve optimal health.
- To focus on the patient's short and long term health goals. Every educational session is patient specific, in which the patient sets the pace.
- To keep track of participant's behavioral and clinical outcomes as part of a continuous quality improvement process to evaluate the effectiveness of the diabetes education services.
- To provide each patient the knowledge and skills required to prevent and delay the complications of diabetes.
