A Randomized, Placebo-Controlled, Double-Blind, Phase III/VI study to compare the efficacy and safety of investigational drug weekly infusion vs. placebo in subjects with emphysema due to alpha-1 proteinase inhibitor deficiency
The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of investigational drug on the progression of emphysema, assessed by the decline of lung density, measured by CT, and to assess the effect of treatment with alpha-1 proteinase inhibitor on the number, severity and duration of exacerbation. This study will take two years and involves 10 visits. Participants will receive study-related medical care at no cost and reimbursement for your time and travel expenses.
