Celiac Disease and Mind/Body Medicine
Celiac disease is a life-long digestive disorder that affects adults and children. Treatment of celiac disease requires strict adherence to a gluten-free diet, which can be very challenging. The purpose of this study is to determine whether participation in one of two mind/body courses has an impact on adherence to a gluten-free diet in patients with celiac disease. At Rush University Medical Center we expect to recruit approximately 30 patients. The course assignments are done randomly.
You may be eligible for this study if you:
- Have received a diagnosis of celiac disease in the past four weeks or within two weeks of starting a gluten-free diet
- Are over 18 years of age
- Have not previously attempted a gluten-free diet
If you qualify for enrollment, you will receive an eight-week mind/body course and parking/transportation free of charge.
