With its comprehensive, multidisciplinary approach, the Gynecologic Cancer Center at Rush offers the following services to patients:
Second Opinion Services
The Center offers second opinion services to patients who have received a gynecologic cancer diagnosis. To learn more about the importance of a second opinion, please see our Seeking a Second Opinion page. For more information, patients or physicians are also encouraged to call our center at (312) 942-6300.
Advanced Treatment Options
A full range of treatments are offered, from standard therapies to innovative treatment options, and new options are being explored every day. Many women benefit from chemotherapy, radiation therapy, surgery or a combination of these therapies. As part of the clinic, you will receive the newest treatments available for gynecologic cancer, including:
-
Clinical trials for biologic or "targeted" therapies
-
Interperitoneal chemotherapy for advanced ovarian cancer
-
Intensity modulated radiation therapy
A personalized treatment plan will be developed after your initial visit and you meet with the clinical team.
In addition to providing expert clinical care, Rush doctors are hard at work at the lab bench, uncovering the nature and root causes of gynecologic cancers. They are also investigating new therapies and translating what they learn into novel, more effective treatments. Additionally, through our active research program, patients are able to enroll in one of our numerous studies for gynecologic cancers. For more information see our Gynecologic Cancer Clinical Trials page.
Complementary Integrative Medicine
Rush has a dedicated Cancer Integrative Medicine program which offers patients access to complementary treatments that include acupuncture, biofeedback, guided imagery, counseling, massage therapy, medical hypnosis, nutritional counseling and yoga. For more information, see our Cancer Integrative Medicine Program page.
Supportive and Educational Services
Rush is committed to helping patients and their families cope with the psychological, emotional and spiritual effects of cancer. We offer our patients access to a variety of cancer support programs, including the ability to meet with an American Cancer Society patient navigator, who assesses the individual patient needs and provides information about available community services and programs.
