Approximately one in eight women will develop breast cancer during her lifetime. Rush is dedicated to helping women stay one step ahead of breast cancer through regular screening as well as providing the most effective treatments for those in whom the disease is diagnosed. Breast Imaging Center
The Breast Imaging Center at Rush offers women access to board certified radiologists who specialize in mammography. The Rush Breast Imaging Center was recently designated a Center of Excellence by the American College of Radiology. Genetic Testing & Counseling
The Rush Inherited Susceptibility to Cancer Center, counsels individuals on their personal and family risks for developing breast cancer through checking for genetic mutations (BRCA1, BRCA2, pTEN and Li Fraumeni, among others), and provides information on prevention and early detection. The Department of Radiation Oncology offers patients individually designed treatment plans to combat cancer and offers a variety of options which are not widely available at other institutions. Coleman Foundation Comprehensive Breast Center
The Coleman Foundation Comprehensive Breast Center offers patients the opportunity to have breast abnormalities reviewed and evaluated in a comprehensive, multidisciplinary setting. In one appointment, a patient is able to meet with medical oncologists, radiation oncologists and surgeons and, after discussion with the patient herself and her family and/or friends, be presented with a treatment plan agreed upon by all. This plan can then be implemented at Rush or provided to a referring physician. Psychosocial oncology and Integrative medicine services are also available.
