Schaumburg, IL 60173
(847) 413-9001
Cook County

Provides family therapy using the STEP Program (Systematic Training for Effective Parenting). It is a family-based intervention, designed specifically for parents that teaches more effective ways to address behavioral issues with children on the ASD/PDD spectrum. Ideally, family therapy includes all members of the immediate family working together to improve relationships. The focus of clinical attention is not on one individual or an identified disorder. Instead, the focus is on the family as a system. Together the family and psychologist or therapist assess how that system responds to challenges and identifies strengths as well as areas needing improvement. The therapist may choose to work with individuals, dyads, or other combinations of family members at certain times to increase effectiveness.
