The Social Wellness Group is intended for children ages 8-12 with high-functioning autism or Asperger's disorder. Children must be able to participate and gain from a 60-minute group session.
Featured topics include communication, friendship, bullying, anger management. Led by Valerie Luxon, Licensed Clinical Psychologist.
Co-Occurring Parent Group will be held at the same time as the Social Wellness Group, for parents of the children in attendance. Mediated by Brianne Lukowski, clinical navigator of the Autism Spectrum & Developmental Disorders Resource Center.

First Responders Training (at Giant Steps)
Program's goal is to educate emergency first responders on how to identify and work with an individual living with autism. Program follows a train-the-trainer model where selected first responders (trainers) attend the training and train their colleagues at a later date. In addition, because this program takes place in a school for children with autism, the trainers actually gain experience interaction with someone living with autism, as students and staff are part of the program.

Parents work on individualized behavioral and goal planning activities, with group sessions led by a clinical psychologist and individual time with trained peer mentors. While parents are in session children are placed in the child center which uses the same developmentally appropriate, behavior management strategies taught to parents.
