Program Services
Our program offers supportive services to international referring physicians, patients and their families, and it includes a centralized office to coordinate all their medical, social, travel and financial needs. The following are examples of some of our services:
- Act as liaisons with medical officials, physicians, foreign consulate and embassy officials and, upon request, assist with visa arrangements
- Provide interpreter services by qualified, licensed professionals
- Coordinate travel arrangements to Chicago, including accommodations for patients and their family members
- Coordinate medical consultation, necessary diagnostic tests and admission scheduling
- Make special dietary arrangements for ethnic, religious or health needs
- Coordinate private-duty nursing, rehabilitation and home health services before and after discharge when needed
- Provide assistance coordinating financial arrangements required by the Medical Center
- Provide access to banking and business equipment, such as computers, faxes and copiers
- Assist with family activities, including arranging entertainment and special events

Accommodations in Chicago
Family members of Rush patients receive special discounts at many downtown hotels, including the Marriott Hotel located directly across the street from Rush. Staff of the International Health Services program will assist in making arrangements and offer suggestions on accommodations ranging from low budget, affordable residences to upscale luxury suites, depending on the family’s request.
While patients are receiving care at Rush, they and their family are invited to relax in the comfort of the presidential suite, located in the Rush Professional Office Building on campus. The suite serves as a communication and business center. Patients can access phones, a fax and computer, in addition to relaxing with a cup of tea or coffee, or snacks in a peaceful environment. Family members are also encouraged to wait in the suite while their loved ones are in surgery.
