Daytime sleepiness and parkinsonism in patients with mild Alzheimer's disease
The purpose of this study is to determine whether specific sleep patterns exist in patients with mild Alzheimer’s disease, to determine whether sleepiness accompanies memory difficulties during the day, and to correlate signs of parkinsonism with daytime sleepiness. A total of 40 eligible patients will be recruited for this study.
You may be eligible to participate in this study if you:
- Have Alzheimer’s disease
- Have no sleep complaints or problems with sleep
- Have no comorbid medical illnesses, or have comorbid medical illnesses that are well controlled
You will be excluded from this study if you:
- Have atypical forms of memory loss
- Are currently taking any sleep medications
- Are currently taking any form of dopamine
- Are currently taking any stimulant or wake-promoting medication
