The mission of Rush University Medical Center in Chicago is to provide the very best care for our patients. The methods used to schedule and assign nurse caregivers to patients are consistent with this mission. Nurses at Rush University Medical Center complete an orientation to the medical center as well as the area in which they work. The number of nurses and other caregivers working on patient care units are determined by the acuity of each patient and skills necessary to meet the care needs. The caregiver assignments are reviewed and changes made at the beginning of each shift by a registered nurse working on the unit.
