About Rush Getting to Rush by Public Transportation

CTA Pink Line train at Rush 

The main entrance for Rush University Medical Center is located at 1650 W. Harrison St. in Chicago, Illinois, just off the Eisenhower Expressway (I-290), less than five minutes west of downtown.

The medical center is easily accessible by car and public transportation. To talk to an operator, please call (312) 942-5000.

Chicago Transit Authority Trains

The Medical Center is served by the Pink Line (Loop-54th/Cermak) and the Blue Line (O'Hare-Forest Park).

Pink Line

  • Take the Pink Line train to the Polk station.
  • Go to your right as you leave the station to Paulina Street (less than half a block from station
  • Make a left on Paulina to travel north to the Medical Center
  • The Pink Line connects with the Green, Brown, Orange and Purple lines, as well as Metra, through the Loop elevated system.

Blue Line

  • Take the Blue Line train to the Illinois Medical District station.
  • Go to the exit on Paulina Street (walk up the long ramp going toward the city).
  • Turn right at the exit and walk one block to Congress Parkway.
  • Cross Congress Parkway at the light. The Atrium Building entrance, 1650 W. Congress Parkway, will be on your left.
  • The Blue Line's main connection is with the Red Line through the subway system. It also connects with Green, Brown, Orange and Purple Line trains, as well as Metra, through the Loop elevated system.

#7 Harrison (weekdays)
#9 Ashland
#126 Jackson
#157 Streeterville/Taylor (weekdays)

Taking Public Transportation from the Airport

From O'Hare International Airport

  • Take the Blue Line train through the Loop to the Medical Center station
  • When you arrive at the Medical Center station go to the exit on Paulina St. (walk up the long ramp going toward the city)
  • Turn right at the exit and walk one block to Congress Parkway
  • Cross Congress Parkway at the light. The Atrium Building entrance, 1650 W. Congress Parkway, will be on your left.

From Midway International Airport

  • Take Orange Line to the Loop
  • Transfer at the Quincy/Wells or Washington stop to the Pink Line train
  • Take Pink line to the Polk street stop
  • Go right as you leave the station to Paulina Street (less than half a block from station)
  • Make a left on Paulina to travel north to the Medical Center

Taxis

A taxi stand is located in front of the Jelke Building (see map) on Harrison Street. A taxi call button is located on the ground floor of the Atrium Building.
