Carolyn Blatchford

Carolyn received her master's degree in health administration from the University of Iowa College of Public Health and a Bachelor of Arts degree in history and psychology from the University of Kansas. While at the University of Iowa, Carolyn worked for the Department of Patient & Family Services at the University of Iowa Children's Hospital. In addition, Carolyn interned at Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis where she worked on patient throughput and telemedicine planning at the system level.

As a fellow at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago, Carolyn hopes to refine her interests in strategic planning and hospital operations. In addition, she will spend time assisting the organization in the optimization of their electronic health record.

Robert Silverstein

Robert received his master's degree in health administration from the Medical University of South Carolina (MUSC) and a bachelor of science degree in physical education from the College of Charleston. During his final year at MUSC, Robert interned at the Charleston Veterans Affairs Medical Center, where he completed a variety of projects including working with a Root Cause Analysis team to improve the process of transferring patients to MUSC, and the development of a Systems Redesign award and grant program. In addition, Robert worked at the Bishop Gadsden Retirement Community in Charleston, South Carolina, with projects focused on patient safety and process improvements.

Throughout the administrative fellowship at Rush University Medical Center, Robert wants to explore his interests in patient safety and quality, as well as hospital operations. Currently, he is working on a project that will help Rush better anticipate the incentives for adopting electronic medical records in both the hospital and physician practices.
