Gretchen Coffman, MA
Gretchen S. Coffman, MA, is a recreation technician at Alzheimer’s Family Care Center (AFCC)in Chicago. She earned her bachelor’s from Vassar College, and her master’s with honors, in gerontology from Northeastern Illinois University in Chicago.
Since 1999 she has been employed at AFCC as a recreation technician. Her responsibilities include maintaining a therapeutic milieu for all clients at AFCC, assuming a leadership role in planning monthly activities, and collaborating in assessing client status. She serves as a clinical resource for facilitating learning experiences for AFCC staff, makes professional presentations, and teaches training modules to students. Her previous experience includes teaching social studies, early childhood programs and being chief administrator at an independent elementary school.
