| | | Farahnak Assadi, MD | | Farahnak Assadi, MD, received his medical degree from Tehran University, where he completed his dissertation with distinction. He completed his residency training in pediatrics at Thomas Jefferson University Medical College and furthered his specialty training with a fellowship in nephrology at the University of Pennsylvania Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia.
At Thomas Jefferson University Medical Center, Dr. Assadi served as professor of pediatrics and chief of pediatric nephrology from 1990 to 2000. During his tenure he was instrumental in establishing pediatric kidney transplantation in DuPont hospital for children, which became the national model for organ transplantation in the state of Delaware.
Dr. Assadi, is an internationally recognized leader in the field of pediatric nephrology, and he has led a distinguished career as a clinician and researcher on the health and welfare of pediatric communities and the influence of culture in patient-provider communication.
Dr. Assadi has received numerous research grants and is an internationally renowned author and speaker. He is an expert on renal physiology and fluid-electrolytes and acid-base disorders. His research interests are in aspects of newborn developmental renal physiology, hypertension and chronic renal failure. He is the author of more than 100 peer-reviewed publications.
An officer of numerous national and international scholarly societies, Dr. Assadi currently serves as a senior member for the Society for Pediatric Research, American Society of Pediatric Nephrology, American Society of Nephrology, National Kidney Foundation, North American Renal Transplant Society, and the International Society of Pediatric Nephrology.
