Xavier Pombar, DO, is a senior attending in maternal-fetal medicine, assistant professor of obstetrics and gynecology, section director in general obstetrics, and director of the residency program in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology. He received his medical degree from New York College of Osteopathic Medicine in 1986. He completed his residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Lutheran Medicine Center, Brooklyn, New York, in 1991. He served as a clinical director for ob/gyn at Union and Saint Barnabas Hospitals in the Bronx, New York. During this time he was also the educational coordinator for obstetrics medical students at New York College of Osteopathic Medicine. In 1994, Pombar completed a fellowship in maternal-fetal medicine at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago. He also completed a year of research in obstetrical ultrasound at the University of Colorado in Denver, where his main focus was studying fetal brain development with ultrasound.
Pombar's current clinical interests include Level II targeted ultrasound, prenatal diagnosis, diabetes and clotting disorders in pregnancy. He is board-certified in maternal-fetal medicine.
