| | | Philip R. Liebson, MD | | Philip R. Liebson, MD is a Professor of Medicine and Preventive Medicine. He holds the Mc-Mullan-Eybel Chair of Excellence in Clinical Cardiology. He practices general cardiology and preventive cardiology including hypertension and lipid management. He graduated from Columbia University and got his medical degree from State University of New York Downstate Medical Center and cardiology training at the New York Hospital-Cornell Medical Center. He has been at Rush since 1972 and has variously been director of the Medical intensive Care Unit, Echocardiography unit, Cardiovascular Education unit, Electrocardiography unit, and Acting Director of Cardiology. His NIH research has involved echocardiographic studies in populations in hypertension and clinical trials of hypertension and heart disease. He is currently Associate Director of the Echocardiography Unit . His awards have included an NHLBI Preventive Cardiology Academic Award and the American Heart Association Teacher of the Year Award. He recently received the Jan J. Kellermann Award from the International Society of Cardiology for his efforts in Cardiovascular Disease Prevention.
