Investigational mechanical circulatory support device for heart transplant candidates



Clinical Trial Protocol Description

The purpose of this study is investigation of a mechanical device that provides circulatory support as a bridge to cardiac transplant in patients who are at risk of imminent death from nonreversible left ventricular failure.

After the device is implanted, patients will be monitored and will learn more about the device so they can be discharged to their homes. The device will be removed after a heart becomes available. This device is designed to get patients out of bed and engaged in activities that will make them stronger before transplant surgery.



Clinical Trial Eligibility Criteria

You may be eligible for this study if you:

  • Are18 years of age or older.
  • Have been approved for cardiac transplantation by the Rush multidisciplinary transplant committee.
  • Are listed with UNOS on the Status 1A or 1B list.
  • Have been approved for LVAD implantation as determined by the Rush multidisciplinary transplant committee.
