Program Description

The mission of the Partnership for Prevention Program at Rush University Medical Center is to meet every smoker "where you are" and provide the most effective assistance medical science has to offer to help you in your pursuit of health. Whether that assistance is information, assessment and feedback, counseling, medication or new technologies is up to you. We pursue our mission through service, professional education and research.

There are many compelling reasons to quit smoking, and most people who smoke know it would be better for their health if they stopped. But for most people, stopping is hard. The good news is that at Rush, we understand the challenges, and we can help you whether or not you are ready to quit now.

The experts of the Rush University Medical Center Partnership for Prevention program have the know-how to help as you make the commitment to quit smoking and to help you face the challenging process of quitting. Using a combination of techniques, we will empower you to reach your goal.

Services Provided

Whether you are trying to quit smoking or trying to make the commitment to quit, whether you have tried before or this is your first time, the Partnership for Prevention Program at Rush University Medical Center is here to help you.

Whether or not you're ready to quit smoking, we can help you get and stay on the road to better health. Quitting smoking involves making the decision, gaining a better understanding of your smoking, choosing a plan and developing strategies to implement that plan.It may also involve learning new skills, such as effective ways to cope with life's challenges. For some people, medications or nicotine replacement therapy may help.

Our smoking cessation groups provide you with support and encouragement while teaching you the most effective ways to stop smoking. In these group meetings, members' individual needs and concerns are addressed by the facilitators.

And for those who prefer working individually, we incorporate the same support strategies and information into personalized, one-on-one counseling sessions, which are scheduled with your convenience in mind.
