Pre-Transplant Testing for Allogeneic Transplant Patients
Because of the intensive nature of a bone marrow transplant, we routinely perform a number of tests to make sure that the patient is in good shape before the transplant. Testing also helps detect any potential problems that may require correction. We also perform tests that enable us to determine the current status of the disease. The tests usually performed include the following:
- Computed tomography (CT) scans
- Lung function tests
- MUGA scan (heart function test)
- EKG
- Bone marrow biopsy
- Tests for hepatitis A, B and C; cytomegalovirus; herpes simplex virus
