Rush University Medical Center and John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County Collaborative Research Project
The program is designed to support research that is truly collaborative between the two institutions. The intent of the program is to facilitate the development of new clinical and basic science research programs. Collaboration is broadly defined to include any project with substantive participation of investigators from both institutions. Results of funded projects are expected to be shared at the annual Research Forum. These grants are for one year of funding with an average budget of $10,000 per project. Interested candidates are encouraged to submit a one paragraph letter of intent that identifies the investigators and describes the specific aims of the proposal by June 1, 2007. Full applications are due July 31, 2007.

University Committee on Research(UCR) grants are awarded primarily to faculty at the Assistant Professor level (or after evidence has been provided that this rank will be attained at the time of the award). Bridge grant applications may be considered for awards to senior faculty if funds are available. Both grant awards have the same deadline for application and are considered in the same time period.
A letter of intent is required before submitting a UCR grant application. Please review the UCR Policies and Procedures for eligibility criteria posted on the UCR webpage at http://iris.rush.edu/ucr before submitting your letter of intent. Pease be aware that the webpage may only be accessed via Rush intranet. The letter of intent should be addressed to Eugene Thonar, PhD, UCR Chair ,and hand delivered to Ms. Erica Burnett, Suite 439, Professional Building by Friday, January 25, 2008.

The Rush University Committee on Research (UCR) is will be soliciting grant applications for both the Schweppe Foundation Career Development Award and the Searle Scholars Program Award in May of 2008.
Searle Scholarship Award
Applicants will be expected to pursue independent research careers in biochemistry, cell biology, genetics, immunology, neuroscience, pharmacology, and related areas in chemistry, medicine, and the biological sciences. Schweppe Career Development Award
Applicants will be expected to demonstrate enthusiasm and talent for teaching as well as have been involved in research endeavors during their prior years of medical and scientific training, either in medical school, during a subspecialty fellowship or as a post-doctoral fellow. Sigma Xi Travel Awards - 2007
The Rush University Chapter of Sigma Xi, the scientific research society, announces the availability of travel grants to support students enrolled at Rush and postdoctoral fellows with appointments at Rush to attend professional conferences for the purpose of presenting their research or other scholarly work. To qualify for the award, the applicant must be scheduled to present at the conference or symposium, and the conference must be national or international in scope and attendance. The grant will be awarded by the Sigma Xi review committee for a maximum of $500 and is based on need and scientific merit. This program is supported by the Rush Office of Research Affairs.
