UDC is the abbreviation for Universal Data Collection. The UDC is a special clinical research project of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) aimed at monitoring blood safety and preventing complications for persons with bleeding disorders. Data collected from participating patients (after providing written informed consent) helps the CDC to establish a uniform set of clinical outcomes that are used to monitor occurrence of possible risk factors for infectious disease and joint complications. This data is collected during the comprehensive hemophilia evaluation. Standard clinical data and plasma samples are collected for this purpose. Participants in the UDC are enrolled by a federally funded HTC such as the Rush HTC, and must sign a written consent for participation. Reports summarizing the data are issued by the CDC quarterly. This information helps your doctors, nurses and the HTC team optimize your care to maximize function and minimize disability.
