Clinical Services at Rush General Surgery Home
Program Description

With one of the busiest programs in the Midwest, surgeons at Rush University Medical Center operate on more patients than are seen at any other hospital in Illinois. General surgeons at Rush offer a full range of surgical care, including expertise in the latest minimally invasive techniques. The department includes physicians with expertise in colon and rectal surgery, surgical care for cancer patients, pediatric surgerytransplant surgery and dentistry.

Services Provided

General surgeons at Rush provide a full range of consulting, diagnostic and treatment services. This includes abdominal, laparoscopic, oncologic, endoscopic and endocrine surgery. Special interests inlcude minimally invasive rectal surgery, laparoscopic removal of solid organs such as the adrenal gland and spleen, benign and malignant breast disease, inflammatory and neoplastic pancreatic disease and organ transplantation.

Pediatric Surgery: The Section of Pediatric Surgery at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago, Illinois, delivers optimal care to infants, children and adolescents who have critical problems consistent with the tertiary care commitment of the hospital.

Surgical Care for Children: Rush offers a full range of surgical care with the special needs of children in mind.

Transplant Surgery: The transplantation program at Rush University Medical Center is the busiest in Chicago. The expert staff is involved in renal, liver, intestinal and pancreas transplantation. Basic and clinical research is conducted in surgical laboratories and involves fellows and associated scientists.
