Since Barbara Perlstein’s death, her husband, Michael, and a group of close friends and family have worked to carry on the spirit and energy of Second Chance. Through their dedication and the generosity of many donors, Barbara’s memory will live on in the development of advanced treatments and potential cures for multiple myeloma and other blood cancers.
Gifts to the Second Chance Fund provide seed money to our physicians and research scientists to perform translational research seeking better treatments for patients with blood cancers. Based on the results of these studies, Rush’s research scientists are able to obtain additional funding from other granting agencies. All researchers are members of the Section of Hematology and Stem Cell Transplant at Rush University of Medical Center, Chicago.
