Clinical Services at Rush Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility
Program Description

We are a subspecialty group of university-based physicians, board-certified in gynecology, reproductive endocrinology and infertility. In partnership with many other specialists — urologists, andrologists, radiologists, immunologists, geneticists and others, we provide comprehensive care to couples with infertility and reproduction problems. As the longest-running reproductive care program in Chicago, we take pride in our experience and in a long history of more than 30 years of quality service to our patients. We specialize in high-risk and complex cases, including the most difficult female and male infertility.

Services Provided

There are many cases of interfility: hormonal abnormalities, anovulation, endometriosis, uterine anomalies or fibroids, pelvic inflammatory disease, other female problems, or abnormal sperm. We perform comprehensive diagnostic and treatment procedures, including the following:

  • Female and male infertility evaluation
  • Endometriosis evaluation and treatment
  • Treatment and surgery for uterine fibroids
  • Ovulation induction and monitoring
  • Intrauterine insemination
  • Donor sperm insemination
  • Evaluation and treatment of recurrent pregnancy loss
  • Operative laparoscopy and hysteroscopy
  • Tubal microsurgery and tubal ligation reversal

At Rush University, physicians who treat patients have also been involved for many years in pioneering research to advance the field of reproductive medicine. This often provides us with unique insights and means that, in addition to standard procedures, we can offer our patients innovative techniques that are not widely available. For instance, we were the first center in Chicago to offer tubal embryo transfer, a microlaparoscopic procedure in which embryos are placed in the fallopian tube; in patients with patent tubes such transfers have much higher success rates than conventional uterine transfers. We are leaders in the development of improved laboratory techniques for fertilization and embryonic growth in vitro.

We offer:

  • In vitro fertilization (IVF)
  • Gametes Intrafallopian Transfer (GIFT)
  • Zygotes Intrafallopian Transfer (ZIFT)
  • Tubal Embryo Transfer (TET)
  • Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection (ICSI)
  • Blastocyst culture and transfer
  • Laser assisted hatching
  • Testicular biopsy, sperm retrieval and cryopreservation
  • Cryopreservation and vitrification of embryos and oocytes
  • Donor egg cycles
  • Gestational carrier cycles
