Rush offers the following advanced reproductive technology (ART) procedures:
- In vitro fertilization (IVF)
- Gamete intrafallopian transfer (GIFT): a laparoscopic procedure in which eggs and sperm are placed in the fallopian tubes
- Zygote intrafallopian transfer (ZIFT): a laparoscopic procedure in which one or more fertilized eggs, or embryos, are placed directly into the fallopian tubes
- Tubal embryo transfer (TET): same as ZIFT, but the embryo is slightly more mature (2-3 days) before implantation
- Intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI): the injection of a single sperm directly into the egg
- Testicular biopsy and cryopreservation of tissue
- Ovarian biopsy and cryopreservation of tissue
- Blastocyst culture and transfer: embryos are allowed to remain in the incubator until they reach a more mature stage before they are implanted
-
Assisted hatching: a procedure that involves creating a small hole in the zona pellucida, a shell-like protein that surrounds the fertilized egg, to facilitate “hatching” and implantation
-
Cryopreservation of sperm and eggs
-
Donor egg IVF
-
Pre-implantation genetic diagnosis: before implantation, embryos may be tested for the presence of inherited genetic disorders, such as cystic fibrosis. Only the unaffected embryos are then transferred to the uterus
