Clinical Services at Rush Fragile X Syndrome Research & Clinical Team
Clinical Team

Elizabeth Berry-Kravis, MD, PhD, is a pediatric neurologist with training in biochemistry and molecular biology. She has been involved in research and clinical work with individuals with fragile X syndrome for 14 years, and was recently honored at the National Fragile X Conference with the National Fragile X Foundation Jarrett Cole Clinical Award.

Christopher Goetz, MD, is director of the Section of Movement Disorders at Rush. He is the author of several books on the subject and has extensive experience in the use of rating scales to characterize movement disorders. He will rate all the videotapes for the FXS premutation study at Rush.

Stephen Porges, PhD, is the director of the Brain-Body Center, part of the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Illinois at Chicago. His research attempts to understand how neurobiology affects human behavior. His team will administer the psychophysiological assessments for the add-on lithium pilot study.

Michael Nelson, PhD, is director of the Section oh Pediatric Psychology at Rush. He has extensive experience administering various neuropsychological testing for the ad-on lithium pilot study.

Ed Cook, MD, is a psychiatrist at the University of Chicago, who has worked extensively with children with autism and developmental challenges. His research includes work on genetic determinants of autism and psychopharmacology in autism. He serves as a consultant for fragile X syndrome studies in matters related to study design and autism assessments.

Crystal Hervey, BS, is the research assistant working with Dr. Berry-Kravis on the fragile X premutation study, the add-on lithium pilot study and the outcome measures project. Elizabeth Alt, RN, BSN, is the pediatric neurology nurse at Rush. Once patients have had a clinic visit, they often contact Amanda to discuss prescriptions, symptoms and other issues.

Sharon Coleman is the administrative assistant in the pediatric neurology office. Sharon schedules appointments for Fragile X Clinic and general pediatric neurology clinic. She is in charge of records, letters and office correspondence.
