The Pediatric Critical Care Program at Rush offers:

• Patient care in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit at Rush University Medical Center and in the PICU at John H. Stroger Hospital of Cook County
• International outreach with programs in Kenya, Nigeria and Egypt
• A research program, with ongoing projects in pain control, asthma management, respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) disease, sepsis detection and family and medical leave issues for pediatric faculty

The pediatric critical care program at Rush provides services for children with the entire range of severe illness, including:

• Cardiac illness and cardiac surgery (including heart transplantation)
• Severe asthma and respiratory illness
• Sepsis
• Cancer
• Major surgery
• Trauma/burns (John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County)
• Severe neurologic disorders, including status epilepticus
• Metabolic disorders
• Liver failure (including transplantation)
• Disorders of respiratory control
