The Section of Pediatric Endocrinology and Metabolism provides children and adolescents with evaluation and treatment for hormonal disorders and diabetes.
The following are a few of the endocrine problems for which our pediatric physicians and nurses provide expert care:
- Thyroid abnormalities
- Adrenal abnormalities
- Pituitary abnormalities
- Growth disorders
- Diabetes mellitus, including Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes
- Puberty disorders
- Bone and calcium disorders
- Turner’s syndrome
- Klinefelter’s syndrome
Rush has a dedicated program for children and adolescents with diabetes and their families. Services include ongoing educational programs based on current guidelines of the American Diabetes Association.
The Section of Pediatric Endocrinology and Metabolism features a multidisciplinary team composed of pediatric endocrinologists, a pediatric endocrine and diabetes nurse, a pediatric psychologist, and a pediatric dietitian who work together to provide children with the best possible care.
