The Section of Pediatric Endocrinology and Metabolism provides children and adolescents with evaluation and treatment for hormonal irregularities and diabetes.
The following are a few of the endocrine problems for which our pediatric physicians and nurses provide expert care:
- Thyroid abnormalities
- Adrenal abnormalities
- Pituitary abnormalities
- Growth disorders
- Lipid disorders
- Diabetes mellitus, including Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes
- Delay of puberty
- Early puberty
- Turner’s syndrome
- Klinefelter’s syndrome
- Bone and calcium disorders
Rush has a dedicated program for children and adolescents with diabetes and their families. Services include ongoing educational programs based on current guidelines of the American Diabetes Association.
The Section of Pediatric Endocrinology and Metabolism features a multidisciplinary team composed of a pediatric endocrinologist, pediatric endocrine nurse practitioners, physician assistants and dietitians who work together to provide children with the best possible care. Our staff are all certified diabetes educators (CDEs) and individuals with expertise in exercise physiology and pump training. Richard Levy, MD, is director of the section.
