The Rush Eating Disorders Program provides a comprehensive, multidisciplinary approach to the diagnosis and treatment of anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa and related problems. An important aspect of the program is the comprehensive joint medical and psychological management of patients. More than 400 patients have been seen for consultation, comprehensive evaluation, and inpatient and outpatient treatment.
Treatment of eating disorder patients emphasizes the least restrictive approach necessary to restore full physical and psychological functioning. Comprehensive medical care is provided to each patient with special attention to promoting normal eating habits, psychosocial development and emotional adjustment. These goals are accomplished through a variety of approaches, including behavior management, individual psychotherapy, family counseling and psycho-education, recreation, physical therapy and nutritional counseling.
