Program Description

Rheumatologists at Rush provide treatment for arthritis, Lyme disease, lupus and other rheumatic diseases. The section also supports a center for the diagnosis and treatment of osteoporosis. In addition to its patient care services and research activities, the Section of Rheumatology also offers outstanding training in both the clinical and research aspects of rheumatic diseases.

To learn about the fellowship program in rheumatology at Rush visit the graduate medical education section of this site.

To learn more about the practice of rheumatology see “What is a Rheumatologist?” on the American College of Rheumatology Web site.

Services Provided
Patient care services are provided by physicians in two private practices, Rheumatology Associates and University Rheumatologists. Services include:
  • Consultative care for patients with complex autoimmune connective tissue diseases, including lupus and rheumatoid arthritis
  • Primary management of musculoskeletal disorders, such as osteoarthritis, bursitis and tendonitis
  • Evaluation and treatment for osteoporosis
In addition to providing comprehensive, compassionate patient care, section faculty members are involved in a number of research projects searching for the causes of arthritis and other rheumatic diseases.
