Rheumatologists at Rush provide treatment for arthritis, lupus, vasculitis, Lyme disease and other rheumatic diseases. The section also supports a center for the diagnosis and treatment of osteoporosis, a rheumatoid arthritis clinic, a lupus clinic and a vasculitis clinic.

Our goal is to offer high-quality, patient-focused specialty services that increase our patients' quality of life by moderating the disease process.

We recognize the special challenges faced by our patients, especially those facing limitation of movement. For that reason, we designed our office space with a "patient-first" philosophy: We have a full laboratory, X-ray and bone density facilities and an infusion therapy center within our suite. Think of it as "one-stop shopping" for your treatment convenience. We also provide services in Spanish. Se habla español. Interpreters are also available for many other languages.

Patient care services are provided by physicians in two practices, University Rheumatologists and Rheumatology Associates. Services include:

• Consultative care for patients with complex autoimmune connective tissue diseases, including lupus, rheumatoid arthritis and vasculitis
• Primary management of musculoskeletal disorders, such as osteoarthritis, bursitis and tendonitis
• Evaluation and treatment for osteoporosis
• A wide range of infusion therapies
• On-site X-ray and bone mineral density testing
• Lab testing

In addition to providing comprehensive and compassionate patient care, section faculty members are involved in a number of research projects searching for the causes and treatment of arthritis and other rheumatic diseases.

The Section of Rheumatology also offers outstanding training in both the clinical and research aspects of rheumatic diseases.
