Richard Rovner, MD, joined the Rush Epilepsy Center in April 1999. He received his medical degree from the University of Buffalo Medical School in 1957. Board certified in neurology, he held several academic positions at Northwestern University Medical School, the Cleveland Clinic and the NIH before joining the staff at Rush. He has served as chief of staff of the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago, as well as chairman of the Board of Medical Examiners for the state of Illinois. As a national leader in epilepsy, Dr. Rovner has helped establish guidelines for people with epilepsy under the Americans with Disability Act. Dr. Rovner was one of the founders of the Epilepsy Foundation of Greater Chicago. He currently serves as vice chairman of the EFGC, as well as chairman of the Professional Advisory Board for the past 25 years. Dr. Rovner has also been elected to the Epilepsy Foundation National Professional Advisory Board, which comprises epilepsy experts and internationally recognized leaders in this field.
