Susan Palac, MD, joined the Rush Epilepsy Center in June 1999. She received her bachelor''s degree in chemistry from Indiana University in 1978. She went on to receive her medical degree from Rush Medical College in 1982. After finishing a residency in Neurology at Rush in 1986, Dr. Palac practiced general neurology from 1986 to 1997 in Berwyn and Aurora, Ill. During her years in private practice, she was a frequent guest speaker at community support groups and health fairs. The topics of her talks varied and included epilepsy and its treatment, multiple sclerosis and Alzheimer’s disease. She has been an active co-investigator in several national trials studying new medications for the treatment of stroke. In 1997, Dr. Palac returned to Rush for advanced training in EEG, epilepsy and neuromuscular disorders. She is board certified in both clinical neurophysiology and neurology. Dr. Palac’s specialty interests are women’s issues in epilepsy, surgical treatment of epilepsy and psychiatric issues in epilepsy. Dr. Palac is delighted to be an active participant in patient care, education of patients and health care workers, research and activities of the Epilepsy Foundation.
