This trial is to study the bone density of patients with hyperparathyroidism. We will track the changes in bone density of study participants after their parathyroid surgery. Density levels will be monitored by DEXA-bone scans and blood tests that target residuals of bone degradation in the blood stream.

To be eligible for participation in this study you must:

• Be at least 18 years of age
• Require parathyroid surgery for hyperparathyroidism
• Be under the care of a surgeon at Rush for the treatment of hyperparathyroidism
