The Rush University Medical Center/John H. Stroger, Jr., Hospital of Cook County Research Affiliation Committee is pleased to announce the availability of research funds in July 2005 for collaborative projects between Stroger Hospital of Cook County and Rush University Medical Center.

The collaborative research fund was established in 1997 to support research programs that are truly collaborative between Stroger Hospital of Cook County and Rush University Medical Center investigators. The funds may be used to support basic science, clinical science, health services, or epidemiological research programs. These grants are for one year of funding with an average budget of $10,000 per project. In exceptional circumstances, research projects requiring up to $15,000 will be considered. Support will typically include staff, small equipment and supplies.

The goal of the collaborative research fund is to promote a long lasting scientific interaction between scientists of the two institutions as well as to provide funds with the expectation of producing pilot data sufficient to attract extramural funding. The deadline for proposal submissions is June 1, 2005.
