The Office of Philanthropy at Rush University Medical Center
seeks funds from and maintains ongoing relationships with individuals,
private charitable foundations and corporate foundations interested in
supporting medical research. The Office of Philanthropy's staff works
closely with Rush professionals in finance, sponsored projects, legal
affairs and other areas throughout the medical center to ensure that
fundraising practices and reporting are compliant with internal procedures
and IRS requirements regarding charitable donations.
Medical Center policy requires that Rush investigators submit all grant
applications to private donors (individuals and foundations) through or in
cooperation with the Office of Philanthropy. This policy ensures
consistent, coordinated communication between the Medical Center and donors
and minimizes the risk of duplicate or ineligible proposal submissions.
Additionally, Medical Center policy also requires that research proposals
are submitted in accordance with the Grant Proposal Routing and Approval
Procedures before Philanthropy can forward these proposals to potential
donors.
