Clinical Schedule
The fellow will participate in multidisciplinary clinics at Rush University Medical Center with an
attending clinician, rotating between different disciplines (psychology, neurology, psychiatry and
pulmonary medicine). An intake letter will be generated to include a history, physical and clinical
assessment. This letter will be reviewed with the attending clinician. The fellow will be responsible
for reviewing any diagnostic testing on patients seen in clinic, generating an appropriate written
interpretation and discussing the findings with the attending clinician. The fellow will also participate
in a weekly sleep clinic at the John H. Stroger Jr. Hospital of Cook County.
The Inpatient Sleep Consult Service provides evaluations and any necessary diagnostic testing
for appropriate inpatients. A rotating consult schedule will be posted to include both psychology
residents and fellows. However, the sleep fellow will be responsible for evaluating complicated
patients with extensive medical problems. Portable diagnostic testing will be supervised by the
fellow and attending clinician and any written assessment will require review by an attending.
A weekly clinical case meeting will be held. This allows for discussion of clinical cases in
detail and review of diagnostic testing. It also provides an opportunity for faculty members to
address general questions the fellows may have. This can serve as a forum for individual tutorial,
discussion of case presentations and lecture topics, and research.
Elective clinical rotations are available on an individual basis. Possible electives include
rotations in otorhinolaryngology and pediatric sleep disorders.
