Program Overview
The Department of Podiatry at Rush University Medical Center is committed to providing the highest level of care for foot and ankle problems. Our comprehensive program ties together primary care and surgery of the foot and ankle to create a well-balanced learning experience.

The three-year podiatric surgical residency program is located at Rush North Shore Medical Center in Skokie, Illinois. There is one position available per year. The program encompasses all aspects of podiatric medicine and surgery, including forefoot surgery, rearfoot/ankle, reconstructive surgery, trauma surgery, fracture/infection management, and diabetic limb salvage.
Rotations within the residency program include:
podiatric medicine and surgery
orthopedic surgery
internal medicine
general surgery
emergency medicine
infectious disease
anesthesiology
pediatrics
wound care center
pathology
plastic surgery
and radiology
Residents spend time in private offices and perform daily hospital rounds, which provide extensive perioperative management of patients.
Graduates are eligible to become board certified in forefoot as well as rearfoot/ankle reconstructive surgery. This program prepares podiatric physicians to integrate into any type of future practice setting.
