Message from the director
Welcome to the RUSH Podiatry Program. I have been the director of this program since the birth of it 20 years ago, and have had the opportunity of teaching surgery and clinical practice to many residents. All of them have gone on to successful careers in podiatric medicine and surgery.
Rush North Shore Medical Center provides a great environment to work in. It is a community hospital closely associated with RUSH University Medical Center and all of its resources and clinical teaching programs. The emergency room is very busy and there is a high volume of in-house patient exposure. We also have a strong relationship with cardiovascular, orthopedics, internal medicine, general surgery and plastic surgery.
Currently, the podiatry program is conducting research on increased healing rates of venous stasis ulcers with the application of autologous growth factors. The use of growth factors in wound care shows very promising results.
This program is one of the leading podiatric residencies in the country, and we continue to strive to be a center of excellence.
