Goals and Objectives
Our faculty are committed to:
- Provide fellows with the medical knowledge, in both basic and clinical sciences to develop expertise in providing medical care for children with heart diseases and adults with congenital heart diseases.
- Learn the care for children with heart diseases and adults with congenital heart diseases in the inpatient setting, including the cardiac ICU, out-patient setting.
- Learn the indications and use of diagnostic and therapeutic techniques used in managing children with heart diseases as well as adults with congenital heart diseases. This includes, but is not limited to, echocardiography, non-invasive and invasive electrophysiology as well as diagnostic and therapeutic cardiac catheterization.
- Enable fellows to develop skills and habits that will enable fellows to investigate and evaluate their conduct and competencies as health care providers. In addition, be able to appraise and assimilate scientific evidence, and to continuously improve patient care based on constant self-evaluation and life-long learning.
- Enable fellows to achieve effective verbal and written communication skills as a pediatric cardiologist in the various settings and with a variety of other health care professionals.
- Assist fellows to attain awareness and commitment to accepted professional code
- Learn optimal health care delivery through development of awareness of and responsiveness to system of health care and develop skills and knowledge to call effectively on available resources in the health system for the purpose of providing optimal health care.
