On-Call Responsibilities and Benefits

On-Call Responsibilities:
Residents average 2-3 calls per month. The evenings are covered by a night float system.

Benefits:
The Medical Center House Staff Association offers a variety of benefits for residents. Among these are complimentary membership in the physician’s dining club, free garage parking, compensation for commuting to their hospitals for outside rotations, on-call meal tickets, and life, health and dental insurance. Residents are eligible for four weeks of vacation during their residency. Grants for the purchase of textbooks for resident’s personal libraries are available. In addition, residents may receive grants or aid for attendance at educational conferences, meetings and seminars through the institution’s Linking Education and Performance, or LEAP program. This program will reimburse a portion of registration fees for qualified employees.
