Department Sections and Faculty
The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Rush is organized into sections
representing the major subspecialties of the discipline. Additionally, there are
private practitioners who provide cases and contribute to the overall education of the residents.
Section of General Gynecology
The Section of General Gynecology stresses the need for a balance of the surgical
and non-surgical aspects of gynecology. Residents rotate
through the gynecology service each year, providing increased responsibility in preoperative
evaluation, surgery, and post-operative care of patients.
Section of Ambulatory Women’s Health

Robin L. Jones, M.D., Director

Complete services are provided for the reproductive and menopausal age group women.

obstetrics program is designed to provide a pleasant, safe atmosphere for delivery of babies.

The Section of Maternal Fetal Medicine focuses on the care of the high-risk mother and fetus. The section is also responsible for antepartum admissions to the high risk service as well as medical, surgical and other obstetrical complications of pregnancies. Nearly 40 percent of the section deliveries at Rush are high risk and residents are involved in virtually all cases. The program benefits from the active maternal transport and referral system of the Rush Perinatal Network, which has a base of nearly 30,000 deliveries. While on the service, residents rotate to high-risk obstetric clinic and diabetes clinics. They participate actively in prenatal ultrasound and other state of the art prenatal diagnostic techniques.
