Preliminary Year

The Department of Neurology at Rush University Medical Center is pleased to announce a new and important agreement with our Internal Medicine colleagues at Rush. Applicants who match with the Neurology Residency Program at Rush, who (optionally) wish to complete their preliminary Internal Medicine year here as well, will be guaranteed a PGY1 slot with the Department of Internal Medicine as long as the following steps are taken:

1. Interested applicants must submit a separate application for the Internal Medicine year as well as undergo a separate interview with the Internal Medicine Department.
2. Applicants who match with Rush Neurology who wish to do their internal medicine year at Rush must have placed the Rush Internal Medicine preliminary year (PGY-1) on their supplemental rank list.

We will do our best to coordinate the neurology and internal medicine interviews in enough proximity to avoid separate trips for each applicant. Interviews will be conducted from November to early January.
