Interview & Selection Process

The residency program attracts popularity from around the world. Graduates of LCME accredited allopathic, osteopathic and international medical schools apply through ERAS® (Electronic Residency Application Service). Each applicant is required to provide a transcript, Dean's letter, and a minimum of three letters of recommendation. One of these letters must be from the Chairman of Internal Medicine and/or the Clerkship Director at his/her medical school.

Applications are screened with attention paid to performance during the pre-clinical and clinical years, USMLE 1 exam scores, USLMLE 2 exam scores when available, Dean's letters and letters of recommendation. Our screening process pays no attention to gender, sexual orientation, age, race, religion, ethnic origin, economic status, surname, veteran status or place of residence.

Invitations are extended to qualified applicants by email. Candidates who cannot make one of the 16 group dates may be accommodated on an individual basis at our discretion. Interviews are conducted mid November through the end of January. The interview day consists of a case conference, an hour description of the program, two hours of interview and question/answer sessions, lunch with our housestaff and concluded with a tour of the Medical Center.

After our final applicant interview session, applications are reviewed and our rank order list is compiled.
